When is the best time to take Feosol®?
Iron is best taken on an empty stomach, with water or any type of liquid, about one hour before or two hours after meals. However, to lessen the possibility of stomach upset, iron may be taken with food or immediately after meals.

Iron in the form of ferrous sulfate is most efficiently absorbed in the absence of food, since the phosphate, phylate and calcium present in some foods may form an insoluble complex with the ferrous iron. Some foods, such as coffee, tea or milk, interfere with the absorption, but orange juice can increase it.

Can I take more than the recommended dose of Feosol®?
It is important that you take Feosol® according to the directions, unless your physician has directed otherwise.

Are the Feosol® Caplets time released?
No, none of the Feosol® Iron Supplements are time released.

Will Feosol® Supplements interact with other medications?
Iron should not be given with antacids, especially those containing magnesium trisilicate, which will decrease the absorption of iron. It should also not be given at the same time as tetracycline antibiotics, because iron decreases their absorption. Additionally, if you are taking any other medications, please check with your health care professional before using Feosol® in conjunction with those medications.
